Layups: Name the Block Leaders

Posted by Neil Paine on March 9, 2009

These Sporcle quizzes are addictive... The newest one asks you to name the NBA's all-time leaders in blocked shots, which is a little misleading because the stat wasn't tracked until 1973-74 (thus precluding Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain from cracking the list), but it's a fun quiz nonetheless.

Got 19/25 which ranks in the top 3.5%. Good stuff.

What's funny is that Wilt tied the all time leader for blocks in a single game at 17 IN HIS FIRST GAME IN THE NBA. The Philadelphia statistician(who had been the stat man since the early 60s and only recently retired) Harvey Pollack reminisced how Wilt had 25+ blocks a couple of times.
