Two Minor Site Additions

This is just a short post to announce a couple of minor additions to the site:
- I added an option to the Player Season Finder to search for total seasons matching criteria. This option will allow you to find out who had the most seasons with 2000 or more points in NBA history, who had the most seasons with 10 or more Win Shares in NBA history, and so on.
- Speaking of Win Shares, I have finally extended them back to the 1946-47 BAA season (i.e., the first season of what is now known as the NBA). Previously they had only gone back to the 1951-52 season because that was the first season that minutes played were an official statistic. As one might expect, George Mikan dominates this five-year period.

Check out Alex Groza. That's an impressive two years for a guy who only lasted two years. He was Mikan-level.

If not for Groza's lifetime ban, he would have been one the the NBA's all-time greats.

Oh, Justin... I don't know whether to thank you, or curse you. I'd been working on a project for years to progressively keep track of NBA player "greatness" year by year. And win shares are a major component of that. I'd given up hope that it was even possible to track win shares prior to 1952, so I just started with the league's tenth year. Now it looks like I'll be adjusting a lot of stuff... This is gonna get messy...

Justin, quick question: Why is there missing data for players during this era when they split time between multiple teams in the same season? (Fred Scolari, Andy Phillip, Bob Houbregs, etc.) They seem to be missing win share data for those seasons. I understand why that wouldn't be there for the individual team info when you don't have the specific number of games for each team, but why don't you have the win share data for the season as a whole? And as a side note: the missing game info seems to be affecting the Hall of Famer register on each team's page when they games played data is missing. Houbregs isn't listed for the Celtics or Hawks. Phillip isn't listed for the Warriors or Pistons in 1953. I only checked those two, but I assume it's the same for everyone.

Because I don't have their splits for each team, and in order to calculate their Win Shares I need this information. I could probably come with some kind of workaround for this, but I just haven't done that yet.

Justin, would you be willing to share the formula with which you calculate win shares? I've got a project of my own going where I'd like to be able to calculate them exactly, and this would be great to know. Also, I haven't figured out how to calculate win shares for the ABA, which is an open inquiry here (#11984).

Thanks, Justin. I should have been more clear in that I meant the formula for seasons prior to 51-52.
I could never get the ABA formula to work out - I'll have to revisit it to see why.

Great job extending the win shares data! I dream of the day the head to head for players feature is extended at least covering the 80s! Keep up the great work!
